  Become resident in Mauritius  
 
A residence permit allows to live in Mauritius for three years.
After three years of his residence permit, a foreigner, can if he wishes, apply for a permanent residence permit. This is valid for 10 years renewable.
Several residence permits may be issued to foreigners by the Mauritian Government.
-    Investor Permit: This permit is granted to all foreigners wishing to      set up a business in Mauritius.
-   Work Permit: This permit is granted if a foreigner is employed by      a company based in Mauritius.

Retirement permit: This permit is issued to foreigners wishing to live in Mauritius without working. To be eligible, the retiree, regardless of age and nationality, must undertake to transfer to his local bank account, an annual sum of at least $ 40,000 USD or its equivalent in convertible currency for three years. That amount remains for the applicant own personal expenses and there is no obligation to spend or block that money.
